HANG OUT WITH FUTURE LEADERS
KEEPING CONTACT HAVING FUN

7TH GRADE INITIATIVE
Moving into 7th grade can be a little intimidating – new teachers, new friends, moving around to different classrooms, etc. – and we, at the Greater Carbondale YMCA, want to help you stay in touch with your old friends through out the entire year, as well as, make new friends in this group.
Not only will you hang out with friends, but you’ll be a part of something more — you’ll have exclusive times just for your group to swim (playing the water sports like basketball, polo, volleyball), have gym time (playing dodgeball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, etc), and go on special outings (if staff is available).
The purpose of theis initiative is to engage the youth in fun, healthy activities by providing 1 year memberships to 7th graders across the state.
Member only pays a $20 registration fee (a savings of $144).   Please bring proof of 7th grade registration (ex., letter from the school, class schedule)
* Enrollment in this membership begins in August before the youth enters 7th grade and will expire that next July 31. Youth may sign up any time during their 7th grade year.

TEEN LEADERS
Youth in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th, have the opportunity to be leaders at our Y. Our Teen Leaders hold events like Flick & Float, Parent’s Night Out for younger elementary kids and their families; dodgeball, basketball and volleyball tournaments; and they help out with community events,  Pioneer Nights, and YMCA carnivals.
An added benefit of joining the Teen Leaders is that because it’s a volunteer group, you’ll be able to fulfill community service hours you may need for schooling, church, or just to feel good that you are helping your neighborhood community.

YOUTH BOARD
Youth in grades 9th-12th, have the opportunity to be youth leaders at our Y. Our Youth Board holds events like Youth Dances, Lock-Ins, and Family Nights; dodgeball, basketball and volleyball tournaments; and they help out with community events,  Pioneer Nights, and YMCA carnivals and festivals.
An added benefit of joining the Youth Board is that because it’s a volunteer group, you’ll be able to fulfill community service hours you may need for schooling, church, or just to feel good that you are helping your neighborhood community.  In addition, you will be learning how a board works within the community and at the Y.
