Senior Program/Special Events Director

James Wiggins brings 23 years of experience in community programming and event management to the Greater Carbondale YMCA. He has played a pivotal role in enhancing and expanding the YMCA’s diverse programs, focusing on the mission of the YMCA. James oversees our adult and youth programs, special events, fundraising, and community outreach initiatives, ensuring that everyone in our community has access to the Y’s resources.

Childcare Director & Childcare Coordinator

Alice Cavalier serves as the Childcare Director, while Mary Pantzar is the Childcare Coordinator at the Greater Carbondale YMCA. Together, they lead a team dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood care and educational programs. With over 47 years of collective experience in the field, Alice and Mary haves a deep commitment to supporting the developmental needs of children and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for all.

At the heart of Alice and Mary’s approach is a focus on creating inclusive, fun, and educational experiences for children that promote their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth. As Co-Childcare Directors, they are passionate about building community connections and working collaboratively with parents, staff, and local organizations to enrich the lives of the children in their care. They have collectively ensured that, the Greater Carbondale YMCA, is the epicenter of learning in the community, with a Keystone Star 4 facility and well-developed early learning staff.

Wellness Director / Facilitator in the Cardiac Direction

Dee Sabia is a registered nurse with a passion for promoting health and wellness in the community. As the Wellness Director, Dee oversees our health and wellness programs, including personal training, Cardiac Wellness, and Breathing Easy. She is also the facilitator of our “In the Cardiac Direction” program, helping individuals improve their heart health and overall well-being.

Aquatics Director

As the Aquatics Director Susan leads a dedicated team focused on promoting water safety, fitness, and fun for all ages and abilities. With a passion for aquatics and years of experience in swim instruction, lifeguarding, and program development, Susan ensures that the YMCA’s pool programs run smoothly, safely, and are accessible to the community.

Marketing & Membership Director

With over 15 years of experience in membership development and marketing, Lisa Burke serves as the Membership & Marketing Director at the Greater Carbondale YMCA. In this role, Lisa is responsible for driving membership growth, improving member retention, and elevating the overall brand presence of the YMCA in the community. She is passionate about connecting individuals and families with the programs and resources they need to live healthier, happier lives.

Building and Grounds Director

As the Building and Grounds Director Justin is committed to providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all members and staff. He oversees the daily operations of the YMCA’s physical space, ensuring that all areas are well-maintained and equipped for various recreational, fitness, and community activities.

Justin leads a team of maintenance and janitorial staff, coordinating their efforts to address any building issues promptly. In addition to regular maintenance, he manages preventive measures, including safety inspections, plumbing and electrical upkeep, landscaping, and exterior maintenance.
