At the Greater Carbondale YMCA, our Y-Pals Preschool Program provides a structured and engaging environment designed to help children ages 3-5 years old prepare for the kindergarten classroom. We focus on early learning, motor skill development, and socialization to set a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Our Y-Pals Preschool program helps children develop essential skills through fun and interactive activities:
- Alphabet & number recognition to support early literacy and math readiness.
- Counting & pre-printing skills to encourage foundational writing abilities.
- Creative arts & crafts to spark imagination and self-expression.
- Gross & fine motor skill activities through games, gym time, and pool activities.
- Social-emotional learning to build self-esteem, confidence, and independence.
Our goal is to create a safe, stimulating, and fun environment where children can thrive and develop confidence before entering kindergarten.
Program Schedule & Extended Care
We offer both half-day and full-day preschool sessions, with additional care options available for working parents:
- Half-Day Sessions: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM
- Full-Day Sessions: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM
- Extended Care: Available before 8:30 AM and after 2:30 PM for an additional weekly charge of $25 per session.

Head Start & Early Head Start Partnerships
We work closely with the Agency for Community Empowerment of NEPA to host Early Head Start Childcare and Head Start Preschools for qualifying families. These programs provide high-quality early childhood education for income-eligible families at no cost.
