Greater Carbondale YMCA Before & After School Program
At the Greater Carbondale YMCA, we understand the challenges working families face when it comes to ensuring a safe, enriching environment for their children outside of school hours. Our Before & After School Program provides structured, supervised care that keeps kids engaged, active, and learning in a fun and supportive atmosphere.
School-Age Before Care
Are you a working parent that needs childcare before school hours and don’t know where to find help? Look no further. The Greater Carbondale YMCA, in cooperation with the Carbondale Area School District, provides a convenient before-school care program beginning at 6:30 AM at the Carbondale YMCA. Students will be bused from the YMCA to Carbondale Elementary at 7:30 AM for the beginning of the school day. If there is a school delay, children will stay at the YMCA until school begins and will then be transported. If school is canceled, children can participate in our Holiday/Snow Day Camp for an additional fee.
School-Age Before Care Pricing
- 1 Hour Daily (6:30 AM – 7:30 AM): $50 per week
- Additional cost for school delays: $10
- If school is canceled: $40 per day for YMCA members | $60 per day for non-members
School-Age After Care
Are you looking for quality childcare after school? Does your child need help with homework and structured activities? We’ve got you covered! The Greater Carbondale YMCA, in cooperation with the Carbondale Area School District, provides an after-school care program at dismissal time.
This program is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, follows all state regulations, and participates in Keystone Stars, where we are currently a Star 4 site. The program is held at the Greater Carbondale YMCA, and children are bused directly to the Y.
After School Care Activities & Pricing
Activities Include
- Supervised homework assistance
Snack time - Arts & crafts and creative play
- Large motor activities including gym and pool time
- Structured & free-time activities to foster social development
Pricing
- 3 Days per Week: $46.00
- 4 Days per Week: $56.00
- 5 Days per Week: $61.00
Registration Fee: $30 (non-refundable, due when paperwork is submitted)
Registration Forms for the 2025-2026 School Year will be available in August at the Member Services Desk.
Financial Assistance
We believe that all children should have access to quality care. Financial assistance is available through the ELRC Subsidy Program for parents who work a minimum of 20 hours per week. To see if you qualify, please contact the ELRC Office at (570) 468-8144.

- Before School: 6:30 AM – Start of school
- After School: End of school – 5:30 PM
